In a digitally rendered cityscape, an older man with crooked glasses sits on a kind of throne, which appears to be emitting sound or smoke. He is flanked by six naked alien-like figures, who fan him with giant leaves. Perhaps this scene occurs on a roof: the background is filled by colorful multistory buildings and a sickly green sky. At the bottom of the screen, text reads, “Their love for each other grew deeper and deeper as the years went on. ”The upper left corner indicates the name of the neighborhood,

Join List Center Curator Natalie Bell and Curatorial Assistant Zach Ngin, for a tour of List Projects 30: Jeremy Couillard

This guided exhibition walkthrough and conversation encourages visitors to take a closer look at the works in Jeremy Couillard’s first solo museum exhibition. The presentation is centered around an installation of his latest game, Escape from Lavender Island, featuring the playable game, simulations, and expanded visual aesthetics of the digital world into the real space of the gallery. Upon closer consideration, one will consider the worlds of contemporary art and video games as well as delve into the imaginative world of Lavender Island as it probes into corporate structures, the pharmaceutical industry, and the social arrangements they impact.
