The Museum of Fine Arts Boston presents The Films of Chantal Akerman: Les Rendez-vous d’Anna
The Films of Chantal Akerman
The MIT List Visual Arts Center is pleased to announce this film program presented by the Museum of Fine Arts Boston in conjunction with the List’s exhibition Chantal Akerman: Moving through Time and Space.
Les Rendez-vous d’Anna (1977, 100 min.). Spanning several days and cities, Les Rendez-vous d’Anna follows a young filmmaker, Anna, as she promotes her work throughout Europe and encounters a variety of people: strangers, friends, family and lovers, with whom she mostly listens, rarely divulging her own thoughts or feelings. The New York Times’ film critic Janet Maslin remarked that Anna “seems engaged by everything and by nothing. Everyone who encounters Anna wants more of her.” Regarded as one of Ackerman’s semi-autobiographical films, Les Rendez-vous d’Anna is a contemplative examination of freedom in art and life.
Screening takes place at the MFA.
