Dance Performance with Shriya Srinivasan
Join Shriya Srinivasan, PhD, for a night of visual and performing arts held during the List’s Student Lending Art Program Exhibition.
During this performance, Srinivasan will bring art to life, drawing inspiration from the hundreds of original artworks featured in the List Center’s Student Lending Art Collection. Srinivasan, a classical dancer and choreographer, will perform within gallery walls, lined with framed artworks, inspiring audiences to engage with exhibition in a new way.
About the Performer
Dr. Shriya Srinivasan is the disciple and daughter of Guru Sujatha Srinivasan, Artistic Director, Shri Kalaa Mandir. She has learned Bharathanatyam for the past 22 years and is known for her vibrant stage presence, emotive capacity and ability to blend sharp Nrtta with elegant grace. She has performed widely in the United States and India and is a creative choreographer. She recently co-choreographed Vivarta:Transformations- an original work on environmental conservation, which premiered at the Cleveland Public Theatre for DanceWorks 2019. She co-founded and directs Anubhava Dance Company, comprised of first-generation Indian-American Bharathanatyam dancers and musicians, and has toured over 14 cities with her new productions, winning great acclaim. An upcoming Carnatic vocalist, passionate about Sanskrit and yoga, she brings a holistic approach to her art and recently performed in the Madras Music Academy’s Spirit of Youth Festival and HCL series. Shriya is currently a postdoctoral researcher at Harvard's Society of Fellows and aims to bring current social themes to life through the beauty and pristine form of the classical Indian arts.
