Spotlight Talk: Symbionts
Join museum educators for a 15-minute conversation to explore current exhibitions, and get deeper insight on the artists behind the work.
In examining, Symbionts: Contemporary Artists and the Biosphere, this program will focus on one of the 14 artists featured in the exhibition and delve into how their practice inspects the intertwining of human existence with other living things, and provokes thought about our species relation to the planet.
This Spotlight Talk will focus on She Has No Mouth by Pamela Rosenkranz installed in Bakalar Gallery. Pamela Rosenkranz’s works query objects of desire, mind-body dualism, and the relationship of humans to the increasingly unnatural “natural world.” With She Has No Mouth, Rosenkranz tells a fascinating story about toxoplasmosis and the power of invisible symbionts to compel interspecies kinship and desire.
Featured spotlight artist of the week will be revealed the week prior to each gallery conversation.
