A gritty pixelated city scape of buildings, shipping containers, and less expected objects: giant animated heads, a big orange flame. Colorful pendants, billboards, and banners crisscross a sickly green sky. At the bottom of the screen, text reads, “He found some new work managing social media accounts for alien colonists.” The upper left corner indicates the name of the neighborhood, “So-Tep Slums,” and the upper right corner includes a navigation map.

Please join members and friends of the List Center for a preview look at our 30th List Projects Exhibition with work by Jeremy Couillard.

Join the exhibition curator Natalie Bell and curatorial assistant Zach Ngin for a behind the scenes tour and conversation with the artist.

Couillard’s first institutional solo exhibition at the List Center is centered around an installation version of his latest game, Escape from Lavender Island (2023). The game begins with the player having a dream about a dystopian city, before waking up and finding themselves in the city they saw in their sleep.

To RSVP, please email listcomms [at] mit.edu (listcomms[at]mit[dot]edu). Members are welcome to bring guests to Behind the Scenes events.
