Join us for a film screening and discussion of Adam Pendleton’s  video portrait Just Back from Los Angeles: A Portrait of Yvonne Rainer (2016-17) featured in List Projects: Adam Pendleton. The video captures an exchange between Pendleton and dancer, choreographer, filmmaker, and writer Yvonne Rainer as they consider the value of documents and the multiple meanings of movement.

Carrie Lambert-Beatty, Professor of Visual and Environmental Studies, and of History of Art and Architecture at Harvard University will lead a post-screening discussion, examining the video’s ideas, themes, and portrayal of Yvonne Rainer. Lambert-Beatty’s 2008 book Being Watched: Yvonne Rainer and the 1960s (MIT Press, 2008) brought research on minimalism, dance, performance documentation, and theories of spectatorship to Rainer’s work in performance and film. This program is free and open to all, but RSVP is encouraged. To RSVP click here.
