Public Program Visual Perception Workshop

April 22, 2017, 12:00PM - 2:00PM

MIT List Visual Arts Center

Join MIT List Visual Arts Center for an investigation of shapes, colors and materials and their optical qualities to create a perceptual experience. This hands-on workshop provides the opportunity to experiment with materials and engage in activities that challenge visual perception. This program is free and open to all ages.

This workshop is inspired by Anish Kapoor’s, Non- Object (Plane), a large scale mirrored installation that challenges ideas of perception, reflection and perspective. While referencing this work we will create drawings by using mirrored viewfinders. By manipulating how we observe the environment around us we can think deeper about how we see and depict the world. As we draw the space around us through the viewfinder we will construct a collaborative installation that joins together each person’s unique observation of their surroundings.
