Join MIT List Visual Arts Center for an investigation of shapes, colors and materials and their optical qualities to create a perceptual experience. This hands-on workshop provides the opportunity to experiment with materials and engage in activities that challenge visual perception. This program is free and open to all ages.
This workshop is inspired by Sol Lewitt’s work, Bars of Colors Within Squares, which utilizes primary colors, geometric shapes and written guidelines. By using rules to make his work it challenged Lewitt to think deeper about color, shape and material. We will construct a collaborative optical surface with colored felt to investigate how Sol Lewitt was able to create his monumental floor installation!
