Public Program Me(dia) Response: self-awareness and activism through art-making | Part 3: Creative Action

October 20, 2017, 12:00PM - 2:00PM

MIT List Visual Arts Center. 20 Ames St., Cambridge, MA

Join artist Kate Gilbert in a participatory workshop series infusing tools of meditation with media awareness to raise awareness of contemporary issues and inspire change. This workshop  will begin with guided meditation focused on loving those who are difficult to embrace and emphasizes community. Once centered, participants will gather to execute a civically engaged creative action using the artifacts created in previous workshops.

This third and final workshop in the series will lead participants through the acceptance of violent imagery in media as a necessary catalyst for change, defining one’s response to violence and will culminate in a civically-engaged creative action.
