Public Program Chest Painting: A Talk in the form of a Misunderstanding by Joe Scanlan

Artist and educator Joe Scanlan will present a commissioned talk in conjunction with Heimo Zoberning: chess painting. In his talk he will discuss Heimo Zobernig’s previous work with language and painting, a signature of Modernism and an important aspect of Zobernig’s broader practice.

 About the Speaker

Joe Scanlan’s work is included in the public collections of Tate Modern, London; Centre Georges Pompidou, Paris; the Van Abbemuseum, Eindhoven; the Stedelijk Museum Voor Aktuele Kunst, Ghent; and the Museum of Contemporary Art, Chicago. He has taught in the Visual Arts at Princeton University since 2009 and has been published internationally in Artforum, Frieze, and Parkett, amongst others.
