Ampersand Concert Series No Lands / Brian House

May 7, 2015, 7:15PM - 10:00PM

Bartos Theater
20 Ames Street, Bldg. E15 Lower Level
Cambridge MA 02139

Doors open at 7:30 pm. Concert begins at 8 pm.

The latest Ampersand concert, presented in celebration of ArtWeek Boston, explores how sound design relates to the physical realm with a set from No Lands and a composition by Brian House.

No Lands, from New York, creates sounds inspired by bodies of water, floods, and water flow through custom audio software. Brian House, from Providence, opens the night with his composition “Forty-eight to Sixteen,” which reflects the biometrics of Brian’s heartbeat during a bike commute; this presentation will feature live music written by Topu Lyo and performed by a trio of musicians (Lukas, Michela, and Nicholas Bentel, strings).

Join us before the show for a special free tour of the List’s newest exhibition, Joan Jonas: Selected Films and Videos, 1972-2005, starting at 7:15 pm.

Tickets are available for purchase at the door. Cash only.

Cost: $3 with MIT ID, $5 general admission.

Ampersand, a collaborative concert series presented by WMBR & List Visual Arts Center, showcases contemporary music in Bartos Theater on MIT’s campus.  Performances blend art and music and happen every other month. Audience members are encouraged to current exhibitions at the List before experiencing each performance.
