Ampersand Concert Series ARIADNE / Asha Sheshadri

November 5, 2015, 8:00PM - 10:00PM

20 Ames Street, Bldg. E15, Cambridge MA 02139

Doors open at 7:30 pm. Concert begins at 8 pm.

Ampersand presents a lush and intricate concert celebrating the cool spirit of fall with ARIADNE and Asha Sheshadri. Join List Curator Henriette Huldisch for a special guided tour of Rosa Barba: The Color Out of Space before the concert at 6 pm to explore filmic and projection artworks in the same mood.

ARIADNE is a sacred music duo from Brooklyn comprised of Christine Lanx and Benjamin Forest. By interspersing the ritualism of ancient spirituality and the secular iconography of the post-modern, the band flawlessly bridges two worlds through their intricate musical compositions, striking digital visuals, and captivating live performances.

Opening the concert is Asha Sheshadri, a multimedia artist from Southern California and Philadelphia known for her solo project Isolde Touch. She experiments with computer, voice, text and video synthesis to explore the relationship between sonic and visual. Harsh rhythmic elements are layered with lush vocal counterpoint, illuminating the intersection between the soft and abrasive, the naturally-occurring and the machine-generated.

Tickets are available for purchase at the door or in advance online at the link above.

Cost: $3 with MIT ID, $5 general admission.

Ampersand, a collaborative concert series presented by WMBR & List Visual Arts Center, showcases contemporary music in Bartos Theater on MIT’s campus.  Performances blend art and music and happen every other month. Audience members are encouraged to current exhibitions at the List before experiencing each performance.
