After the Beginning and Before the End illuminates the nature of art by focusing on the creative process-from the initial moment of inspiration to the final composition — of a broad selection of works by celebrated artists from the early 1930s to the present.

The exhibition includes over 220 examples of “Instruction Drawings” in a variety of forms, such as working drawings, installation instructions, musical scores, sketches, visual or textual memoranda, fabrication notes, and work records.

This exhibition was organized for the Bergen Kunstmuseum in Bergen, Norway, by Jon Hendricks and Gunnar B. Kvaran.
